Shoba Narayan is an acclaimed actress, vocalist, and dancer who has made a significant
impact across theater, film, television, and voiceover, earning recognition for both her versatility
and trailblazing presence.
She voices Emily on the hit animated series Hazbin Hotel, streaming on Prime Video.
Narayan previously starred as Princess Jasmine in Disney’s long-running Broadway hit Aladdin.
She went on to originate and star as Simran in the Broadway-bound Come Fall in Love (directed
by Aditya Chopra, Yash Raj Films), a contemporary reimagining of the beloved Bollywood
classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
She made her Broadway debut opposite Josh Groban in the 12-time Tony-nominated Natasha,
Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, becoming the first South Asian woman to play a principal
role on Broadway since Bombay Dreams—a moment Playbill called “a personal milestone and a
key moment on Broadway.”
Her numerous stage credits include starring as Eliza Hamilton in the national tour of Hamilton,
and appearing on Broadway as Nessarose in Wicked.
On screen, Narayan has appeared in the award-winning feature Growing Up Smith, Quantico
(ABC), Halal in the Family with Aasif Mandvi, Gossip Girl (The CW), Coin Heist (Netflix), and
Mistress America, directed by Noah Baumbach.
In 2022, she became the first Indian American artist invited to sing at the White House Diwali
celebration. She also performed at the Hollywood Bowl for Disney Animation’s 100th
anniversary concert.
A classically trained Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher, she has performed extensively
throughout the U.S. and India, earning top prizes at international dance festivals and
competitions. She currently resides in New York.
